Alumni Night at the SAP Open

Join fellow alumni at Alumni Night at the SAP Open on Wednesday, February 10 at the HP Pavilion. Each ticket includes a gourmet buffet style fajita dinner in HP Pavilion’s Comerica Bank Club South Bar, a chance to win great raffle prizes, and a ticket to the night’s matches – all for the same price as a regular ticket! Plus, one of the night’s matches will feature top American, Andy Roddick.

Dinner begins at 5 p.m., with the matches beginning at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow Spartan alumni and meet graduates from other local universities in a fun and exciting atmosphere.  The event is open to all alumni, families, and friends.

The SJSU men’s basketball plays three games in the area over the holidays. Wednesday, Dec. 23, the Spartans play Santa Clara at the Levy Center on the SCU campus at 7 p.m. SJSU returns to the Event Center on Monday, Dec. 28 to play UC Irvine, a team it defeated last week in Irvine. Wrapping around the New Year’s holiday, San Jose State opens WAC play against the Idaho Vandals on Monday, Jan. 4. Check out www.sjsuspartans.com for ticket information and updated information on all San Jose State teams.

The SJSU women’s basketball team returns to the Event Center on Wednesday, Jan. 6. to play Nevada.

Harlem Globetrotters visit SJ

The Harlem Globetrotters will entertain audiences as part of their 2010 world tour at the HP Pavilion, January 15 and 17. The world-famous Globetrotters have played more than 25,000 games in 84 years. Discounted tickets are available to all SJSU alumni.

Ticket pricing is as follows: sidelines $34.50 (reg. $41.50), corners $25.50 (reg. $32.50), and end court $19.50 (reg. $22.50). The deadline to place orders for the discounted price is Wednesday, January 6. Best available seats will be assigned at the time each order is processed. To purchase tickets, fill out the order form and fax or mail directly to the HP Pavilion. Phone calls and online orders through Ticketmaster are not valid.

The Dick Tomey Show is live on KLIV 1590 every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. from The Hideout at Original Joe’s. Stop into Original Joe’s and be part of the audience and submit your questions to the show. “Voice of the Spartans” Mike Chisholm and the coach talk about the upcoming game and what’s happening with the Spartans.

Each week a guest joins the program for the final segment, about 8:45 p.m. This week’s special guest is the SJSU Alumni Association’s Associate Executive Director, Brian Bates.  With over 13 years of alumni experience, Brian brings a breadth of knowledge to SJSU, including game calling responsibilities for nine Spartan Basetball games in 2009.

Fans check out the big screen at the Homecoming Pre-Game Party in 2008

Be sure to arrive early at SJSU’s Homecoming game on Saturday. There will be live music and a giant 12-foot screen showing college football action on the East Field. Local bands The Whiskey Avengers and Funk the Band will entertain fans from 2-5, while the big screen shows the best college football action of the afternoon (outside our own Spartans, of course).

It’s a great place to meet friends and enjoy the afternoon before cheering on the Spartans! Food and beverage will be available for purchase, too.

Don’t miss the Stanford Pre-Game Party on Saturday!

Headed to the SJSU-Stanford game on Saturday? Be sure to stop by the Alumni Association Pre-Game Party on Maloney Field starting at 3 p.m. Free parking is available in a number of lots on the campus. There is no cost to attend and food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. The barbecue dinner is $10. Non-alcoholic beverages are hosted by the Alumni Association.

An excess of 500 alumni and friends showed up to support the Spartan football team at the USC Pre-Game Party on Labor Day weekend. Held within Exposition Park, a short walk to the Los Angeles Coliseum, attendees were treated to food, music and great company. Both the SJSU marching band and cheer team made appearances.

The Alumni Association hosts a Pre-Game Party before each Spartan football game on the road! Pre-Game Parties are fun for the whole family and there is no cost to attend. They’re always convenient to the stadium too. The next Pre-game Party will take place before the Spartans take on the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, September 19. Check out the new Dick Tomey Radio Show each Wednesday night at 8 p.m. live from The Hideout at Original Joe’s in downtown San Jose! Hosted by Mike Chisholm, the show will cover SJSU football from every angle. Appetizers will be provided with a no-host bar available. The show will be carried live on KLIV AM 1590 in San Jose. The Alumni Association will host a Pre-Game Party before the Spartans take on non-conference rival Stanford on Saturday, September 19, at 3:30 pm. Taking place on Maloney Field, this event is open to alumni, friends and family. In addition to great company, guests can also expect a visit from the Spartan Marching Band.

Over 250 alumni, friends and family attended last year’s event.
